Your Unique Ceremony

Your ceremony will be unique to you. There are plenty of different ideas that can be placed into your ceremony.

There are 3 general elements for the marriage

  • The Monitum
  • Exchange of vows
  • The Identification of celebrant

The remaining elements are up to the two of you. This is your ceremony and it should be reflective of the two of you, so please feel free to be creative. This is a guide only, to give you a sense of what can be included. This list is in no way exhaustive.

  • Entrance music and entrance
  • Welcome
  • Exchange of rings
  • Brief history and highlights of your life together
  • Readings / passages / poems / songs etc
  • The asking (the 'I do' part)
  • The kiss (usually the grand finale!)
  • Interactive events: lighting of candles; blending of water, wine, sand, oils or tea; family members' or friends' contributions; presentation of couple; breaking of a glass; vows to stepchildren; your own family and cultural traditions
  • Vows (your personal promises to one another)
  • Signing of register and certificate presentation
  • Presentation
